ESPC INTRODUCES GLASS-FUSED-TO-STEEL PROCESS TANK TO ETHANOL MARKET

St. Louis, MO (June 26, 2007) – Glass-fused-to-steel bolted process tanks are a new option for the ethanol industry.  The process tank was introduced by Engineered Storage Products Company as an alternative to welded stainless steel process tanks at the recent Fuel Ethanol Workshop in St. Louis, Missouri.
Glass-fused-to-steel bolted process tanks offer several advantages over existing options including faster construction, factory-engineered glass coated panels and easy maintenance according to Rick Jones, Vice President of Sales and Engineering at Engineered Storage Products Company.
“Our glass-fused-to-steel bolted tanks are built from the ground up, says Jones.  This sidewall construction method means that no cranes or skilled welders are required.  Plus, since our glass-fused-to-steel panels are factory engineered, we can avoid common weather delays that stainless steel tank construction might have.”
The Vitrium™ glass coating employed by Engineered Storage Products Company has the toughness to stand up to fermenter conditions, says Jones.  This titanium dioxide formulation is designed to handle all the temperatures and pressures in all common fermentation processes.  The strong panels can easily handle roof and equipment weights.
“Glass-fused-to-steel tanks were originally used in the brewing industry, so fermentation is in our product lineage,” added Jones.
Glass-fused-to-steel process tanks have as smooth interior coating that is easy to maintain and is less porous than stainless steel.  According to Jones, studies show that porcelain (glass) enamel-on-steel surfaces have a consistency that provides maximum inhibition of bacterial growth.
“When you add up all the benefits, glass-fused-to-steel is a very effective and economical process tank option, concluded Jones.  Our first installation is currently under construction.”
